If you need to turn off the faucet, use a towel to do so. Also, keep in mind that you shouldn't touch the dispenser with your hands, eyes, or other surfaces to prevent contamination. If you're having trouble getting the drop into your eye, try lying down or turning your head to the side. Your eye pressure can be reduced by using Xalatan on a regular basis. If your eye pressure is under control after taking Xalatan, don't stop taking it unless your eye doctor instructs you to. Don't use 2 drops the following day in an attempt to catch up. Use eye drops properly by waiting at least five minutes between each drop if you need to use more than one. If you forget to use Xalatan one day, use the next drop as usual the following day. After thoroughly washing your hands, hold the bottle in one hand while placing your thumb against your eyebrow or the bridge of your nose to administer the Xalatan drops. As long as Xalatan is taken, color changes can intensify, and eye color changes are probably irreversible. There have been cases of bacterial keratitis linked to the use of topical ophthalmic products in multiple-dose containers. Xalatan may slowly cause darkening of the eye color due to increased brown color, darkening of the eyelid and eyelashes, and increased growth and thickness of eyelashes. Blurred vision, burning and stinging, eye redness, feeling like something is in your eye, itching, increased pigmentation (darkening) of the eye color, or irritation of the clear front surface of the eye are all potential side effects of xalatan. These side effects are typically mild and tolerable.
Your doctor might advise you to avoid taking certain medications because this could occasionally be harmful. Drugs can interact with one another. In addition to vitamins and herbal supplements, make sure your doctor is aware of all the medications you are taking, both prescription and over-the-counter. There could be drugs that interact with Xalatan.
Avoid allowing the dispensing container's tip to come in contact with the eye or any nearby structures as this could contaminate the tip with common bacteria that can cause ocular infections. Before administering the solution, contact lenses should be taken out. Upon stopping treatment, eyelash changes are frequently reversible. Changes to the eyelashes, such as thicker and longer eyelashes, may take place. After stopping the use of Xalatan, eyelid skin darkening may happen and may be reversible. You should seek your doctor's guidance right away regarding the continued use of the multiple-dose container if you experience any intercurrent ocular conditions (such as injury, infection, or ocular surgery), and you should do so right away. If you develop any ocular reactions, particularly conjunctivitis and lid reactions, tell your doctor right away. When using more than one topical ophthalmic medication, the medications should be administered at least five (5) minutes apart. Lenses can be reinserted 15 minutes after the last dose of Xalatan.
