Interactions

Contraindications
You may feel more lightheaded after consuming alcohol or marijuana (cannabis). The condition known as QT prolongation, which affects heart rhythm, may be brought on by alfuzosin. Tell your doctor or dentist if you are currently taking this medication or have ever taken it, as well as about all other products you use, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal remedies, before having surgery (including cataract/glaucoma eye surgery). If you are allergic to alfuzosin or if you have any other allergies, inform your doctor or pharmacist before taking the medication. Before taking alfuzosin, inform your doctor or pharmacist of all the medications you take and of any underlying medical conditions, such as heart failure, a slow heartbeat, QT prolongation in the EKG, or a family history of certain heart conditions (QT prolongation in the EKG, sudden cardiac death). If this drug enters breast milk is a mystery. Limit your alcohol consumption. Low levels of potassium or magnesium in the blood may also increase your risk of QT prolongation. The adverse effects of this medication, especially QT prolongation (see above) and dizziness and low blood pressure when getting up from a sitting or lying position, may be more severe in older adults. QT prolongation can rarely cause serious (rarely fatal) fast/irregular heartbeat and other symptoms (such as severe dizziness, fainting) that need medical attention right away. Talk to your doctor about using alfuzosin safely. If you use marijuana (cannabis), consult your physician. For more information, consult your pharmacist. If you have certain medical conditions or are taking other medications that may prolong QT, your risk of QT prolongation may increase. The possibility of falling can also be increased by these side effects. You may feel lightheaded after taking this medication. Telaprevir (Incivek) should be combined with midazolam (Versed) and triazolam (Halcion) because of increased risk of sedation and respiratory depression.
