Description
When someone has symptoms of depression, panic, anxiety, or obsessive-compulsive disorder, sertraline alters brain chemicals that may be out of balance. Premenstrual dysphoric disorder is another condition that sertraline can help with. The antidepressant sertraline is a member of the class of medications known as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs). Sertraline is used to treat major depressive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder (SAD).
Dosage
Adults: 50 to 200 mg administered once daily is the recommended maintenance dosage range. 50 mg is added once daily after a week of treatment. OCD in children (13 to 17 years old): A starting dose of 50 mg once daily is advised. Children (ages 6 to 12) with OCD: the recommended starting dose is 25 mg once daily. Adults should start with a starting dose of 50 mg once daily for depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder. Adults: A 25 mg once daily starting dose is advised for people with panic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Adults: A starting dose of 50 mg once daily, either daily throughout the menstrual cycle or during the final two weeks of the cycle, is advised for premenstrual dysphoric disorder. When administered daily throughout the menstrual cycle, the dose may be increased to 150 mg; when administered only during the final two weeks of the cycle, it may be 100 mg. The maximum recommended dose is 200 mg per day.
Missed dose
Never take two doses at once to make up for missed ones. To continue with your regular dosing schedule, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next one. As soon as you realize you missed a dose, take it.
Overdose
Call 911 right away if the victim has collapsed, experienced a seizure, is having difficulty breathing, or cannot be roused. In case of overdose, call the poison control helpline at 1-800-222-1222. Additionally, information is accessible online at https://www.poisonhelp.org/help. The following signs of an overdose include: excessive fatigue, dizziness, agitation, mania, seizures, loss of consciousness, drowsiness, agitation, hallucinations, fever, sweating, confusion, fast heartbeat, shivering, severe muscle stiffness or twitching, loss of coordination, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
Storage
You should not, however, dispose of this medication in the toilet. Instead, the best way to dispose of your medication is through a medicine take-back program. It is important to keep all medication out of sight and reach of children as many containers (such as weekly pill minders and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers) are not child-resistant and young children can open them easily. Keep this medication tightly closed in the original container and out of the reach of children. See the FDA's Safe Disposal of Medicines website (http://goo.gl/c4Rm4p) for more information if you do not have access to a take-back program. Store it at room temperature, away from sources of extreme heat, and dry (not in the bathroom). To find out about take-back programs in your area, speak with your pharmacist or the garbage/recycling department in your city. To protect young children from poisoning, always lock safety caps and immediately place the medication in a safe location – one that is up and away and out of their sight and reach. http://www.upandaway.org Unneeded medications should be disposed of in special ways to ensure that pets, children, and other people cannot consume them.

Sertraline has a margin of safety dependent on patient population and/or concomitant medication. Patients randomized to sertraline showed significantly greater improvement than those randomised to placebo on the Children's Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale CY-BOCS (p =0.005) the NIMH Global Obsessive Compulsive Scale (p=0.019), and the CGI Improvement (p =0.002) scales. These increased levels were not associated with any changes in EKG. Elderly patients may be at greater risk of developing hyponatraemia with SSRIs and SNRIs. Reporting suspected adverse reactions after authorisation of the medicinal product is important.
If any user is using the liquid form of this medicine, then he or she should mix it with another liquid for consuming it. If an allergy or side-effects happens then immediately report to the doctor. Daxid tablets are consumed once a day as prescribed by the doctor. Do not overdose by taking moredaxid tablets, they can be harmful to the body. The doses of the medication depend on the patient’s health and medical conditions.
While using sertraline, patients may notice some improvement in mood and physical symptoms in just a few days. Unfortunately, because Zoloft is one of the most commonly prescribed antidepressants, using it in combination with alcohol with it may be considered to be somewhat routine. Other less common side effects include increased sweating, headaches, insomnia, upset stomach, and diarrhea. Therefore, reducing or avoiding alcohol consumption may be instrumental in allowing the sertraline in your system to work safely and effectively as it is intended. However, the Food and Drug Administration warns against mixing Zoloft and alcohol because both substances affect the neurotransmitters in the brain and, if an unwanted interaction occurs, the individual may suffer a blackout.
