Description
Serotonin, a natural chemical, narrows the blood vessels in the brain and is impacted by this. In addition to reducing pain and headache, it also lessens other migraine symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound. Ritriptan does not lessen the frequency of migraine attacks or prevent future migraines. It may also reduce pain by affecting specific brain nerves. Prompt treatment helps you return to your normal routine and may decrease your need for other pain medications. Rizatriptan is a member of the triptan drug subclass. Migraines can be treated with rizatriptan.
Dosage
The dosage for kids (between the ages of 6 and 17) depends on their body weight. Be sure to carefully follow the instructions on your prescription label. Administration with liquid is not necessary for rizatriptan orally disintegrating tablets. A second dose may be given two hours after the first dose if the migraine headache returns. Patients should wait until just before dosing to remove the blister from the outer aluminum pouch in which oral disintegrating tablets are packaged. Take rizatriptan exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The 10 mg dose may provide a greater effect than the 5 mg dose, but may have a greater risk of adverse reactions. The oral disintegrating tablet should then be placed on the tongue, where it will dissolve and be swallowed with saliva, after the blister pack has been opened with dry hands. The efficacy and safety of treatment with more than one dose of rizatriptan within 24 hours in pediatric patients 6 to 17 years of age have not been established. In any 24-hour period, the daily dose shouldn't be higher than 30 mg. If a patient weighs 40 kg (88 lb) or less, rizatriptan is prescribed at a dose of 5 mg; if they weigh 40 kg (88 lb) or more, the dose is 10 mg. Adults who suffer from acute migraines are advised to begin taking rizatriptan at a dose of either 5 mg or 10 mg. The ideal dosage for you will be chosen by your doctor.
Missed dose
If after taking this medication your symptoms do not go away, call your doctor. Rifatriptan does not have a daily dosing schedule because it is only taken as needed.
Overdose
Call 911 right away if the victim has fallen, experienced a seizure, is having trouble breathing, or cannot be roused. Call the poison control hotline at 1-800-222-1222 in the event of an overdose. At https://www.poisonhelp.org/help, you can also find information online. Drowsiness, faintness, dizziness, tightness, pain, pressure, or heaviness in the chest, throat, neck, or jaw, as well as a rapid, pounding, or irregular heartbeat are all possible overdose symptoms.
Storage
Be sure to wait until right before use to remove the tablets from the blister pack. However, you shouldn't dispose of this medication in the toilet. A medicine take-back program is the preferable method for getting rid of your medication. All medications should be kept out of the sight and reach of children, as many of the containers (such as weekly pill containers and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers) are not child-resistant and are simple for small children to open. Keep this medication out of the reach of children and tightly closed in the original container. See the FDA's Safe Disposal of Medicines website (http://goo.gl/c4Rm4p) for more information if you do not have access to a take-back program. Keep the medication at room temperature, away from sources of extreme heat, and dry (not in the bathroom). To find out about take-back programs in your area, speak with your pharmacist or the garbage/recycling department in your city. To protect young children from poisoning, always lock safety caps and immediately place the medication in a safe location – one that is up and away and out of their sight and reach. http://www.upandaway.org Unneeded medications should be disposed of in a specific manner to prevent pets, kids, and other people from eating them.

The activated trigeminal nerves convey nociceptive information to central neurons in the brain stem trigeminal sensory nuclei that in turn relay the pain signals to higher centers where headache pain is perceived. This activation of the 'trigeminovascular system' is thought to cause the release of vasoactive sensory neuropeptides, especially CGRP, that increase the pain response. sumatriptan, rizatriptan, zolmitriptan naratriptan) are serotonergic agonists that have been shown to act selectively by causing vasoconstriction through 5-HT1B receptors that are expressed in human intracranial arteries and by inhibiting nociceptive transmission through an action at 5-HT1D receptors on peripheral trigeminal sensory nerve terminals in the meninges and central terminals in brain stem sensory nuclei. 2 20-40 minutes later the neurochemicals CGRP, Neurokinin A, and Substance P are released by the migraine process from ganglia to inflame the trigeminal nerve, the arteries, and later the thalamus. If concomitant treatment with rizatriptan and an SSRI or SNRI is clinically warranted, appropriate observation of the patient is advised, particularly during treatment initiation, with dose increases, or with addition of another serotonergic medication (see section 4.5). Treatment should promptly be discontinued and replaced by an agent belonging to another class of drugs. patients with hypertension, diabetics, smokers or users of nicotine substitution therapy, men over 40 years of age, post-menopausal women, patients with bundle branch block, and those with strong family history for CAD].
Rizatriptan blocks pain signals from getting through to the brain, as well as feelings of nausea and other symptoms. If you get migraines frequently, speak to your doctor who will be able to advise as to some lifestyle changes that can be made that will help to lessen the frequency. You will first need to have an online consultation with our medical doctor before your order will be supplied.
