The term ACE refers to angiotensin converting enzyme. Additionally, prinivil is used to treat adult congestive heart failure or to increase survival rates following a heart attack. A common ACE inhibitor is Prinivil. Adults and kids who are at least 6 years old who have hypertension are treated with prinivil.
-If blood pressure is not controlled with Prinivil alone, a low dose of a diuretic may be added (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide, 12.5 mg). -Although the 80 mg dose is used, it doesn't seem to have a greater impact. After the addition of a diuretic, it may be possible to reduce the dose of Prinivil. Comments: -During the first three days following an infarct, therapy should be started at 2.5 mg for patients with a low systolic blood pressure (less than or equal to 120 mm Hg and greater than 100 mm Hg). Detailed Prinivil dosage information At least six weeks should pass after the initial dose. Therapy should be stopped if prolonged hypotension (systolic blood pressure less than 90 mmHg for more than 1 hour) takes place. Angioedema, a rapid swelling of the skin's deep layers, is a serious side effect of prinivil that can occur.
