Never take two Pepcid doses simultaneously. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next one, and take your next dose as scheduled. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember if you miss one. Most conditions get better in 4 to 8 weeks, at which point the medication can be stopped. With or without food, 1 to 4 times per day, Pepcid is typically taken orally as a tablet. Take Pepcid exactly as prescribed. The suspension form should be shaken well before each use and unused liquid should be thrown away after 30 days.

Some patients with severe Zollinger-Ellison syndrome have received doses of up to 160 mg every six hours. Dosing may vary according to the individual. Carefully adhere to the instructions on your prescription label. A typical starting dose is 40 mg once daily at bedtime for active peptic or gastric ulcers (ulcers in the small intestine or stomach). A typical starting dose for diseases that produce an excessive amount of excretion, like Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome, is 20 mg every 6 hours. For patients with severe cases this may be extended up to 12 weeks. For reflux disease (GERD): A typical starting dose is 20 mg twice a day for up to 6 weeks. To stop ulcers from returning, a maintenance dose of 20 mg may occasionally be prescribed. This dose is taken at bedtime. Maintenance therapy of healed ulcers is typically 20 mg once daily at bedtime. Most ulcers will heal within 4-8 weeks and Pepcid treatment can be stopped. In patients who are younger or have mild to severe kidney disease, lower dosages might be necessary. Follow your doctor's instructions for taking Pepcid exactly. You could take 20 mg of this twice daily. In accordance with the severity of the condition, this may be increased to a maximum of 40 mg twice daily for up to 12 weeks.

Missed dose

Taking two doses at once is not advised. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and take the medication as soon as you remember.

Call your doctor or the local Poison Control Center if you take too much Pepcid, and then go to the hospital right away if it's an emergency.

What is the difference between Pepcid and Pepcid Complete?

PEPCID® is an H2 blocker. Both Original Strength and Maximum Strength PEPCID AC® begin to work in 15-30 minutes, and help control acid all day or all night. * Dual Action PEPCID COMPLETE® combines an H2 blocker with an antacid, so it starts neutralizing acid in seconds, but has the long-lasting relief of an H2 blocker.

Is Tagamet the same as Pepcid?

If I Have Reflux, Am I More Likely to Get COVID-19? Next comes a main meal of rich food with more drinks, and you might even add on a rich dessert. Once someone is hospitalized with coronavirus pneumonia, respiratory reflux into the lungs would be a very bad thing. Over the course of many years of clinical practice, I’ve seen a correlation between frequent viral upper respiratory infections (URIs) and LPR. Millions of Americans are diagnosed with asthma and other conditions, when the real culprit is reflux.

If you are experiencing acid reflux two or more times per week, you may be diagnosed with GERD. While • GERD is not life-threatening, repeated exposure of the lining of the esophagus to acidic contents can lead to tissue damage. You should talk to a doctor if problems persist for more than a couple weeks.
