Interactions

Tell your doctor right away if you take any of the following: probenecid (Benemid), aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, or other magnesium-containing antacids (Mylanta). This is not a complete list of Macrobid drug interactions. In addition to vitamins and herbal supplements, make sure your doctor is aware of all the medications you are taking, both prescription and over-the-counter.
Contraindications
Before you know how Macrobid affects you, avoid driving or using heavy equipment. Avoid taking Macrobid if you have: a history of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction linked to Macrobid; a known hypersensitivity or allergy to Macrobid or any of its ingredients; a significant impairment of renal function in pregnant patients at term (38–42 weeks gestation) as well as during labor and delivery. Lung issues (pulmonary hypersensitivity reactions) are among the serious side effects of macrobid that have been reported. Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin that arrests bacterial growth by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim DS, Septra DS, Sulfatrim) Trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole inhibits bacterial growth by inhibiting the synthesis of dihydrofolic acid. Bacterial species it acts against include common urinary tract pathogens, except Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

Patient has decreased urination or decreased kidney function, or in case you are not able to urinate. In case patient has a background marked by lungs problem or he/she has very poor health. Try not to take 2 doses at a single time. And patient should continue taking it regardless he feel better. You can mix your oral dose with mineral water, fruit juice or milk to make it easier to be able to swallow.
