Interactions
Inquire with your pharmacist about the safe use of those products. Examine the labels of all your medications, especially allergy and cold/cough remedies, as they may contain drowsiness-inducing ingredients. Without consulting your doctor first, never start, stop, or modify the dosage of any medications. Levocetirizine should not be combined with these drugs. Using diphenhydramine cream, ointment, or spray along with any other topical antihistamines is not advised due to the possibility of more severe side effects. Drug interactions may alter how your medications function or raise your risk for serious side effects. Keep a list of everything you use, including herbal products, prescription and over-the-counter medications, and give it to your doctor and pharmacist. Levocetirizine and hydroxyzine and cetirizine are very similar medications. Inform all of your doctors and lab staff that you are using this medication. If you have diabetes, phenylketonuria (PKU), or any other medical condition that requires you to restrict or eliminate these foods from your diet, you should proceed with caution. Before breastfeeding, speak with your doctor. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs alertness until you can do it safely. This drug should only be taken while expecting if it is absolutely necessary. Sugar and/or aspartame are potential ingredients in liquid products. A Xyzal 5mg breakable (scored) tablet once daily in the evening is the dosage for adults and children from 12 to 64 years of age. Children’s Xyzal is also available in an oral solution for children 2 to 11 years old. For additional dosing information, please refer to the product labeling. A 1/2 tablet (2.5 mg) once daily in the evening may be appropriate for less severe symptoms.
