By blocking the effects of naturally occurring substances that are known to be inflammatory mediators, it works as a non-bronchodilator antiasthmatic medication when taken orally. Histamine antagonist and mast cell stabilizer ketotifen works without competition. The use of ketotifen has been shown to reduce the frequency, severity, and duration of asthma symptoms and may allow for a reduction in the use of other asthma therapies, though effects may not be noticeable for 6 to 12 weeks.
Adults and children 3 years of age and older: Administer 1 drop in the affected eye(s) no more than twice per day, every 8 to 12 hours. Children under 3 years old: Talk to your doctor.
