Description

Cephalexin can be taken with or without food. For 7 to 14 days, cephalexin is typically taken 2 to 4 times per day, with or without food. Before taking the medication, shake the oral suspension of cephalexin. You shouldn't chew, crush, or split cephalexin tablets or capsules; they should be swallowed whole. Without first consulting your physician, never alter the dosage or stop taking Cephalexin. Never combine two cephalexin doses in one go. Food or milk can prevent cephalexin from causing an upset stomach. Skip the missed dose if your next dose is almost due and take it at the scheduled time instead. Take Cephalexin exactly as prescribed. This drug is available as a tablet, capsule, and oral suspension (liquid). Dosage

Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully. 500 mg of cephalexin will be taken twice daily for more serious infections. Cephalexin 250 mg will be taken 4 times a day for the majority of infections. Exactly as directed by your doctor, take cephalexin. Cephalexin is typically taken in doses of 1 to 4 grams per day, with a 4 grams daily maximum. Depending on the type and severity of your bacterial infection, as well as your age, your doctor will decide on the proper dosage and schedule of cephalexin.
