After you finish the PulsePak, do not take any itraconazole for the next 3 weeks. Always take itraconazole during or right after a full meal. All of the capsules in the PulsePak box will have been consumed after seven days. As directed by your doctor, make sure to finish the entire course of itraconazole. You may take itraconazole twice a day for one week in "pulses," depending on the severity of your infection, or once daily for 12 weeks. Never miss a dose. Itraconazole continues to work inside your nails to help fight the fungal infection even though you are not taking any capsules at this time. Ask your doctor what to do with the missed doses of itraconazole if you forget to take them or miss a dose. Special instructions are provided with the itraconazole PulsePak. One "pulse" (one week of treatment) of itraconazole is provided by the itraconazole PulsePak. "Pulse dosing" is the term for this. For a period of seven days, this entails taking four capsules daily. When your doctor prescribes another pulse treatment, be sure to get your refill before the end of week 4. To effectively treat your fungal nail infection, more than one "pulse" will be required. Either a PulsePak or a bottle of capsules will be delivered to you. If you stop the medication too soon, the infection might come back. As a whole, swallow the capsules. Take itraconazole two hours prior to or one hour following antacid use. If your condition does not improve or if it worsens, let your doctor know. You should not, however, dispose of this medication in the toilet. The best way to get rid of your medication is instead through a medication take-back program. All medications should be kept out of the sight and reach of children, as many of the containers (such as weekly pill containers and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers) are not child-resistant and are simple for small children to open. Store this medication out of children's reach in the tightly closed, original container. It is extremely unlikely that this medication will cause a severe allergic reaction. If any rash appears, seek medical attention right away. But if you experience any serious allergic reaction symptoms, such as a rash, itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention right away. However, you might not be able to distinguish it from a rare rash that could be an indication of a serious allergic reaction.
