Description

For more information, consult your physician or pharmacist. An antihypertensive drug called indapamide is prescribed to treat congestive heart failure-related high blood pressure and fluid retention. This medication may be prescribed for other uses.

Dosage

Regardless of how you feel, keep taking indapamide. Do not stop taking indapamide without talking to your doctor. Never take it in larger or smaller amounts or more frequently than directed by your doctor. Ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any instructions on your prescription label that you are unsure about following. Observe the advice of your doctor. Besides conditions related to the heart, indapamide is also used to treat swelling and fluid retention. A tablet form of indapamide is available for oral administration. Indapamide controls high blood pressure but does not cure it. It usually is taken once a day, in the morning. Exactly as prescribed, take indapamide. Discuss the potential risks of using this medication for your condition with your doctor. They could consist of regular exercise, a low-sodium or low-salt diet, potassium supplements, and more potassium-rich foods (like bananas, prunes, raisins, and orange juice) in your diet.

Missed dose

To catch up, don't double the dose. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. As soon as you remember, take the missed dose. At the appointed time, take your next dose.

Overdose

Vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, thirst, and muscle pain or weakness are just a few of the overdose symptoms that may occur. Call 1-800-222-1222 for poison help if you need immediate medical attention.

Storage

This medication should not, however, be flushed down the toilet. Instead, the best way to dispose of your medication is through a medicine take-back program. All medications should be kept out of the sight and reach of children, as many containers (such as weekly pill containers and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers) are not child-resistant and are simple for small children to open. Keep this medication tightly closed in the original container, away from the reach of children. If you do not have access to a take-back program, visit the FDA's Safe Disposal of Medicines website at http://goo.gl/c4Rm4p for more information. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). To find out about take-back programs in your area, speak with your pharmacist or the garbage/recycling department in your city. http://www.upandaway.org Unneeded medications should be disposed of in special ways to ensure that pets, children, and other people cannot consume them. Always lock safety caps and place the medication in a safe location - one that is up and away and out of their sight and reach.

Over time it also works by relaxing blood vessels and improving blood flow. Indapamide is a diuretic which removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body by increasing the amount of urine produced. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker which relaxes blood vessels and makes the heart more efficient at pumping blood throughout the body. How Amlodipine + Indapamide works Amlodipine + Indapamide is a combination of two medicines: Amlodipine and indapamide which lower blood pressure effectively.

It is a pyrazole diuretic which was used for treatment of hypertension but was withdrawn worldwide because of severe neurological side effects. ^ ^ ^ DE 2319278, Möller, Eike; Meng, Karl & Wehinger, Egbert et al., "Diuretisches und antihypertensives Mitel [Diuretic and antihypertensive agent]", published 1974-11-07, assigned to Bayer AG ^ E.
