Description

The drug Glycomet 500 SR Tablet is a member of the biguanide drug class. If you can keep the level under control, you will lessen your chance of developing any of the serious complications of diabetes, including kidney damage, eye damage, nerve damage, and amputation. It works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin. As part of managing diabetes, lowering blood glucose levels is crucial. Taking this medicine regularly along with proper diet and exercise will help you live a normal, healthy life.

Dosage

Glycomet 500 SR Tablet is best taken with food to avoid nausea and abdominal pain. As a result, while taking this medication it's crucial to stick to the diet and exercise routine that your doctor has prescribed. Unless your doctor advises it, you should not stop taking this medication. To get the most benefit, you should take it consistently at the same time each day. Controlling diabetes involves changing your lifestyle significantly.

Missed dose

But if it is too late or it will soon be time for your next dose, do not take. Do not take double doses of this medication or extra doses of it. Please take your medication as soon as you remember if you didn't take it on time. Next day, at the same regular time, take your usual dose.

Overdose

Call your doctor right away if you experience one of them or any other unusual symptoms. Low blood sugar symptoms, such as hunger, confusion, irritability, drowsiness, headaches, weakness, tremors, sweating, a rapid heartbeat, and seizures, are signs of a Glycomet overdose. You should always keep a source of sugar nearby.

Storage

It is not advised to keep things in kid-friendly areas like bathrooms. Keep items at 68–77 °F (20–25 °C) room temperature. Store away from heat, sunlight, and moisture.

Glycomet GP 500 mg should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to Glimepiride, Metformin, or to any of the ingredients of the formulation. Another active ingredient, Glimepiride ties along with the potassium channel and depolarizes membrane. You have to discuss with your doctor if any side effects of the medicine are affecting your health. Both the ingredients can increase insulin sensitivity, so they can cure type-2 and type-1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Remember that this medicine can only control diabetes, not cure it.

Always inform the doctor about any concomitant medication you are taking at the present time. Keep at a place where it is out of reach of children. The ideal time gap of 4-6 hours should be there between two doses.
