Contraindications

With all antipsychotic drugs, including Geodon, a serious condition known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS) can happen. Avoid doing anything that could raise the possibility of a heart rhythm anomaly. Geodon and other atypical antipsychotic medications have been linked to alterations in the body's general metabolism, including elevated blood sugar, uncontrolled cholesterol levels, and weight gain. Because Geodon can cause sleepiness, be careful when operating machinery or driving a motor vehicle. Due to this, Geodon should only be used after your doctor has weighed the risks and advantages of Geodon's potential side effects against those of other drugs that are currently approved to treat schizophrenia or manic-depressive episodes of bipolar disorder. If you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant, inform your doctor before taking Geodon. If you take more Geodon than your doctor has recommended, call your doctor right away. When taking Geodon, particularly when the dose is increased, you may experience dizziness brought on by a drop in blood pressure. When compared to patients receiving a placebo (a sugar pill), elderly patients with a diagnosis of psychosis associated with dementia who are treated with antipsychotics have a higher risk of dying. patients who are elderly and have dementia-related psychosis. In the treatment of children and teenagers younger than the age of 18, Geodon has not been proven to be safe or effective. The medication geodon is effective in treating the signs and symptoms of both bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. Geodon is not approved for the treatment of patients with dementia-related psychosis. The use of Geodon in the care of these patients is not authorized. Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and high blood sugar: Keep an eye out for symptoms of high blood sugar, such as excessive thirst, excessive urination, excessive hunger, and weakness. But it may alter your heart's electrical current more than other medications do, which is one possible side effect. If this occurs, take care not to get up too quickly and consult your doctor about the issue. If you are taking Geodon, it is advised that you do not breastfeed a baby. It is best to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages while taking Geodon. track any weight gain. It's possible for NMS to be fatal, despite how uncommon it is. Unwanted changes have been observed in patients taking atypical antipsychotics. Poor cholesterol control. Serious side effects have been reported including a rare but serious, potentially fatal skin reaction known as Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms (DRESS). Very high fevers, stiff muscles, trembling, confusion, sweating, or elevated heart rate and blood pressure are all symptoms of NMS. Avoiding situations with high temperatures or humidity is advised because medications in the same drug class as Geodon may interfere with the body's ability to adjust to heat. If you experience a fever, rash, or swollen lymph nodes, call your doctor right away. Although it is unclear whether the small change will be harmful, other medications that can cause this kind of change have on occasion led to dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities. You are currently taking medications that should not be taken in conjunction with Geodon, such as dofetilide, sotalol, quinidine, other Class Ia and III anti-arrhythmics, mesoridazine, thioridazine, chlorpromazine, droperidol, pimozide, and sparflo. As a result, do not take Geodon if you have any of the following conditions: certain heart diseases, such as long QT It is crucial that you inform your doctor about all other medications you take, including over-the-counter drugs, dietary supplements, and herbal remedies. As a result, let your doctor know if you experience any of these symptoms. Those at risk for DM should have blood sugar testing done before and during treatment. There have been reports of weight gain. Who shouldn't use Geodon? You must also tell your doctor about any heart problems you have or have had. Your risk of dangerous changes in heart rhythm can be increased if you are taking certain other medicines and if you already have certain abnormal heart conditions.

My name is Matt and I’m 25 years old. I feel like I am an entirely different person and I’m so happy that I am med free. However, the side effects of these drugs (Geodon, Lithium, Cymbalta) were life-altering for me, and I always felt tired which made me get into two different car accidents while I was driving to work since I was so drowsy as a result of the medications. I’m already noticing some amazing changes; my level of energy has probably tripled. At first, I was reluctant but I then decided I would give it a shot.

These cases were largely dismissed in 2016 when a judge concluded that there was not enough evidence to prove a link between birth defects and Zoloft use. Effexor Effexor was a medication originally produced by Wyeth which has also been the cause of multiple lawsuits. The company was formed as Charles Pfizer and Company in Brooklyn, New York. Pfizer has faced thousands of lawsuits filed for medical injuries caused by some of its most popular drugs.

AbilityHaldol (haloperidol) is a conventional antipsychotic medication. Second-generation antipsychotic medications, known as atypical antipsychotics, are thought to be better tolerated than conventional agents, with fewer Parkinson’s-like side effects. Antidopaminergic agents work first to bind the VMAT proteins, preventing them from storing large amounts of dopamine inside the vesicles.
