Dapsone is an anti-infective drug used to treat leprosy (Hansen's disease) caused by Mycobacterium leprae, pneumonia caused by Pneumocystis jiroveci, and dermatitis herpetiformis (a skin condition). It is also used in conjunction with rifampicin and clofazimine. It is used to treat malaria in conjunction with pyrimethamine.
Do not use more Dapsone than was advised. Observe all the guidelines provided by your doctor. For the treatment of dermatitis herpetiformis, take Dapsone 50 mg orally once each day. Drink a full glass of water while taking Dapsone. To get the most benefit from this medication, take it on the same day about once a week. Your condition determines the dosage of Dapsone. The suggested dosage can be raised to 300 mg per day. To decrease upset stomach symptoms you may take this medication with food. Take 50-100 mg orally once a day for 2–5 years to treat leprosy in adults. Adults with pneumocystis pneumonia should take 100 mg orally once per day for two to three weeks to treat the condition.
Simply skip the missed dose if your next dose is almost due, and then take your medication as directed. Never take a double dose of this medication.
Contact your doctor right away or seek emergency medical assistance if you experience symptoms like excitement, seizures, nausea, vomiting, or bluish skin color.
Tablets should be kept out of the sun and moisture at room temperature, between 15 and 30 C (59 and 86 F).

The following symptoms should be reported to your doctor right away: pale skin, bruising or small red spots on the skin, sore throat, fever, jaundice, muscle weakness, tingling or numbness, bluish skin tone, abdominal pain, difficulty breathing, unusual tiredness, dark urine, or pale-colored stools. Hematologic reactions are more likely when folic acid antagonists like pyrimethamine are used. Dapsone levels in the blood are reduced by rifampin.
