Description
Leukemias and lymphomas, which are cancers of the lymph nodes, are two other conditions for which it is used as a treatment. Dexamethason is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood/hormone/immune system disorders, allergic reactions, certain skin and eye conditions, breathing problems, certain bowel disorders. Finally, Dexamethason is used as replacement therapy in patients whose adrenal glands are unable to produce sufficient amounts of corticosteroids.
Dosage
Do not stop taking this medication without first talking to your doctor. Follow the dosing schedule carefully, and take this medication exactly as prescribed. When taking this medication once a day, do so in the morning before 9 AM. If your condition does not improve or gets worse, tell your doctor. Even if you feel fine, it's still important to continue taking this medication. Each day, take it at the same time(s). According to your doctor's instructions, take this medication by mouth. Unless your doctor instructs you otherwise, take this medication by mouth with a full glass of water or milk, food, or both. For best results, take with food or milk. Based on the patient's response to the treatment, the initial dose should be modified. Depending on the condition, the first oral dose ranges from 0.75 to 9 mg per day. To reap the greatest benefits from this medication, use it frequently.
Missed dose
Do not double the dose to catch up. Skip the missed dose if it will be close to the time of your next dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. In the event that you forget to take a dose of this medication while taking it regularly and daily, do so right away.
Overdose
If you believe you may have taken too much of this medication, seek emergency medical attention.
Storage
Dexamethason should not be frozen during storage and should be kept between 68 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 25 degrees Celsius).
