bisoprolol fumarate brand

A beta-1 adrenergic blocker called bisoprolol is used to treat mild to moderate hypertension, myocardial infarction prevention, and heart failure prevention.

Other names for this medication:
Ziac

Similar Products:
Zestril, Amlodipine, Prinivil, Norvasc, Adalat, Chlorthalidone, Indapamide, Isoptin, Minoxidil, Tenormin, Aceon, Labetalol

Description

A number of clinical studies have shown that bisoprolol lowers cardiovascular mortality and all-cause mortality in patients with heart failure and decreased cardiac ejection fraction (EF). Bisoprolol also lowers heart rate (chronotropy), decreases contractility (inotropy), and lowers blood pressure.

Dosage

Carefully adhere to the instructions on your prescription label. If 5 mg doesn't have the desired effect, the dose may be increased to 10 mg, and if necessary, 20 mg, once daily. The right starting dose for some patients might be 2.5 mg. Take bisoprolol exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The standard starting dose is 5 mg once daily.

Missed dose

Never double the dose of a medication to make up for a missed one. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If you remember right away, take the missed dose.

Overdose

Call 911 right away if the victim has fallen, experienced a seizure, is having trouble breathing, or cannot be roused. Call the poison control hotline at 1-800-222-1222 in the event of an overdose. Additionally, information is accessible online at https://www.poisonhelp.org/help. Overdose signs and symptoms may include unusual weight gain, swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, fainting, shakiness, blurred vision, headache, numbness or tingling in the mouth, extreme fatigue, sudden hunger, and pale skin.

Storage

You should not, however, dispose of this medication in the toilet. The best way to get rid of your medication is instead through a medication take-back program. As many containers (such as weekly pill minders and those for eye drops, creams, patches, and inhalers) are not child-resistant and are simple for young children to open, it is crucial to keep all medications out of sight and out of reach of children. Keep this medication tightly closed in the original container and out of the reach of children. If you do not have access to a take-back program, visit the FDA's Safe Disposal of Medicines website at http://goo.gl/c4Rm4p for more details. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). To find out about take-back programs in your neighborhood, speak with your pharmacist or get in touch with your city's garbage/recycling department. Always lock safety caps and immediately store medications up and away and out of young children's sight and reach. http://www.upandaway.org Unused medications should be disposed of in special ways to ensure that pets, children, and other people cannot ingest them.
