Contraindications

Include any of the following: disopyramide (Norpace), other beta blockers, reserpine, rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane, in Rifamate, in Rifater), calcium channel blockers like diltiazem (Cardizem, Cartia XT, Dilacor XR, Tiazac, and others), verapamil (Calan, Covera-HS, Verelan, If you have an allergy to any of the ingredients in bisoprolol tablets, tell your doctor and pharmacist before taking the medication. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this medication affects you. remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this medication. you should know that if you have allergic reactions to different substances, your reactions may be worse while you are using bisoprolol, and your allergic reactions may not respond to the usual doses of injectable epinephrine. If you become pregnant while taking bisoprolol, call your doctor right away. If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, let the surgeon or dentist know that you are taking bisoprolol. Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had diabetes, severe allergies, circulation issues, hyperthyroidism (an overactive thyroid gland), asthma or other lung diseases, a slow heart rate, heart failure, heart, liver, or kidney disease, or if you plan to become pregnant or are currently breastfeeding. Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or monitor you closely for side effects.
Up-titration of the dose in these patients should therefore be made with additional caution. If necessary, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily. The score line is not intended for breaking the tablet. Additional dose increases are justified only in exceptional cases.
