Side effects
Usually, arpamyl is well tolerated. Seek out immediate medical attention if any of the above-mentioned severe side effects occur. Other potential symptoms include rashes, swelling, breathing difficulties, and jaundice. The most frequent adverse reactions are headache, constipation, rash, weakness or fainting, and swelling of the lower extremities.
Interactions
Arpamyl inhibits elimination of alcohol, increases the efficacy of doxorubicin both in tissue culture systems and in patients. Digoxin toxicity can result from the prolonged use of verapamil, which can cause a 50% to 75% rise in serum levels during the first week of treatment. Co-administration of Arpamyl with aspiring in rare cases increases risk of bleeding. When oral antihypertensive medications are administered together, the effects are additive. When using Arpamyl, it's crucial to adjust the digoxin dosage for the patient. Cyclophosphamide, oncovin, procarbazine, prednisone (COPP) and the vindesine, adriamycin, cisplatin (VAC) cytotoxic drug regimens are able to decrease absorption of Arpamyl. Tell your doctor about all of your medications, particularly those that contain lithium, such as Disopyramide, Flecainide, Quinidine, Phenobarbital, and Cyclosporin. Certain liver tests' results could become slightly abnormal if you take this medication.
Contraindications
Arpamyl's drowsiness and dizziness side effects can be made worse by alcohol, while grapefruit interacts with the drug's ingredients. Patients with severe left ventricular dysfunction, hypotension (systolic pressure less than 90 mm Hg) or cardiogenic shock, sick sinus syndrome (except in patients with a functioning artificial ventricular pacemaker), atrioventricular block degree II-III (except in patients with a functioning artificial ventricular pacemaker), atrial flutter or atrial fibrillation, and an accessory bypass trac are contraindicated for the use of apami. Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages, grapefruit juice, and grapefruit. Avoid standing up too quickly after sitting or lying down because you might feel lightheaded.
