Description
A member of the aminopenicillin group, acillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. Acillin is used to treat illnesses brought on by mixed bacteria because it is active against gram positive microorganisms as well as some gram negative ones (Haemophilus influenzae, formerly known as Pfeiffer's bacillus), including salmonella, schigella, proteus, E. coli, and Klebsiella pneumoniae. It is easily absorbed and is not destroyed in the acidic content of the stomach. Its antibacterial action is based on inhibiting the development of bacteria cell walls that are sensitive to acillin. Microorganisms producing penicillase are resistible to Acillin. This medication is used to treat pneumonia and other infectious diseases of respiratory, urogenital, gastrointestinal systems.
Dosage
Acillin capsules should be consumed with a full glass of water, either two or three hours before or after a meal. Take the medication exactly as directed.
Missed dose
Take the missed dose of a medication you take three times a day as soon as you remember, then take the next dose two to four hours later. If you take this medication twice daily and missed a dose, take it as soon as you remember, take the next dose 5-6 hours later. This medication should never be taken twice.
Overdose
If you suppose that you took too much Acillin and have symptoms of allergy (hives, rush) contact your doctor immediately.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit (15-30 degrees Celsius) away from light and moisture.
